Dacres Family Reunion 2011 – Meeting 7 – December 17, 2010

What was discussed?
- Setting dates as July 18th – 24th 2011. Everyone reports to Jamaica on July 18th, July 19th activities starts. July 23rd is Papa Day. Dacres church outing July 24th.
- Jamaican Urban Transit Company Limited is our means of transportation for big trips as it stands now. www.jutc.com
- Youth Activities: Youth introductions, talent showcase, musical chairs, sac races, tug of war, soul train line
- We will book one hotel and a house and people choose which one they want to stay at. Places booked by January
- Schedule:
o Monday: Check in, meet and greet
o Tuesday: Emancipation Park
o Wednesday: Beach Day (7 Mile Beach and Bloody Bay Beach)
o Thursday: Hike/Breakfast at Jenny’s/Grocery shopping
o Friday: Port Royal/Matinee Movie
o Saturday: Papa Day
o Sunday: Church Day

- Budgets for each department
- Any questions you may have, something you are not clear or, or suggestions you have overall.

What was discussed?
- Send emailing breaking down dues process to everyone explaining $550 for everyone from Sept-July. Your monthly is $50, the total if everyone commits by July will be $4,400
- Winsome house number on the flyer
- Cooking Responsibilities:
o Winsome: Mac and cheese, mashed pots/gravy, Sweet Potatoes, Turkey, Greens, Stuffing/Dressing
o Vivienne: Cabbage, White Rice, Jerk Chicken
o Charmaine: Oxtail, Green Beans, Rice and Peas
o Dwayne: Pineapple Upside Cake, Cornbread
o Lorna: Rolls and Sweet potatoes pie

What was discussed?

- Dates for trip: July 11th-17th 2011

- Teneisha is no longer able to contribute to the committee

- Theme established “Generations of Greatness”

- Food for Papa Day: Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat, Fish - Sprat Chicken Foot Soup, Rice Peas, Festival, Vegetables Steamed, Yams, Dumplins, Banana, Mac & Cheese, Soup: Manish Water/Chicken Foot Soup.

- Housing: Hotels that were checked; The Knutsford Court Hotel (New Kingston), Altamont Court Hotel (New Kingston), The Indies Hotel (Kingston 10). Aunty Lorna Checked into some private housing and renting.

- Tentatively 150 in guest

- Location for papa day: Bowden Hill All Age School

- Transportation: School bus rental option comes with drivers.

- Fundraising: Cook and sell at Junior’s, Garage Sale, selling candy (seescandies.com)

- Papa Day: Price mart for all paper goods.

- Event ideas:

Transportation

For those on the transportation committee, I thought this website would help. If we book a transport company like this one we could travel, for example, from Kingston to Ochie for $50 pp round trip (based on 5-8 passengers).
